The quality of the Polavision was poor for several reasons, but the main reason was because of the large 'grain' value which made them appear darker than regular or standard 8mm. They are also more prone to deterioration, which is possibly a side effect of the processing chemicals or film base used by Polavision. Each film cassette plays for approximately 3 minutes duration.
Transferring Polavision
In order to transfer Polavision it is necessary for us to remove the film from the plastic cassette which is discarded. Once the film is transferred it is returned to you on a regular open cine reel spool. There are no harmful effects to the film using this method and the film & it's images remain safe throughout the process. This does mean however that you will not be able to use the cassette in a Polaroid Viewer should you have one that is still working!
All of the additional elements that we can apply to cine film can also be applied to Polavision. However, Polavision cannot be 'cleaned' due to it's unique chemical makeup.
